More From My Outing to Capture the Bay Bridge Lights Last Month

I wanted to capture these lights to have a great memory since they are only up for two years.

Been off the grid for a long time

Changes, changes, changes....I dropped my Photoshelter website and joined Instagram. I will try to post more often in the future... Recently my daughter and I went out to capture the Bay Bridge Lights. I enjoyed the outing and came away with a bunch of images, but I want to go back to capture more.

End of the Road.......

Before I drove into Crescent City this Labor Day weekend, I decided to try to get to the end of one of the side tracks of the South Fork Smith River Road (Del Norte County, California). This part of the road is paved, but always has small rock slides covering the pavement . I have tried to make it to the end of this road several times and have been stomped. This is the furthest I got during my last attempt.

End of the Road

After I turned around this time, I stopped at the site where two boulders partially blocked the road. A sign of what to come. Not a great thought if this road gets blocked by a rock slide - there is really no other way out - maybe some serious 4x4 tracks.

Detour!!

Going up on this road smoke was very visible from the surrounding fires and creeps into the mountain sides.

Trip to Crater Lake and the Redwoods over Labor Day Weekend

My recent trip to Crater Lake, Oregon was somewhat a little disappointment. I knew about all of the surrounding fires, but hoped for a little less smoke than what I actually encountered. So I cut my visit short and drove over to Crescent City to stay one night. I did end up driving up to Crater Lake on day 2 of my trip and kept the sky out of my images most of the time. The smoke was visible from afar, but did not make it to the rim. Crater Lake is such an inspirational place that I still enjoy the ride around the rim. On day 3 I left Klamath Falls and head to Crescent City via some back roads I had scoped out, at least until I got to Grants Pass. From here it was route 199 into the Redwoods.

The Phantom Ship

On my way to the North Coast, I came across a Marina that was harboring a huge amount of Pelicans and other birds; I spend a good hour just after sunrise at this place.

Visit to the Aquarium of the Bay

Recently I visited the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco. What an amazing place.

The famous Clown Fish

The Shark Tunnel

I was there early in the morning and was lucky to get to the tunnel without a person walking in it. The fish are not very sharp due to their movement and the water in constant motion. A big Shark started swimming over my head - what a sight. I tried, but could not get a decent image, same goes for the Stingray.
